Showga Featuring Musical Guest Rebecca Kleinmann

Showga is a live concert on your yoga mat incorporating yoga, live music, aromatherapy, visual effects, and lights. Reset and reconnect to the wonder of being alive with this festive exploration of the senses.

We are pleased to announce Rebecca Kleinmann as our musical guest for April's Oakland Showga, held in the beautiful ballroom at Starline Social Club!

Rebecca Kleinmann is an acclaimed flutist, singer, and composer with a professional career marked by diversity and improvisation. In the words of Latin Grammy Nominated pianist, Jovino Santos Neto, “Rebecca plays flute with the passion of a flamenco dancer.” An explorer at heart, she rockets and flows between genres, leading her Jazz Quartet and performing in Brazilian choro and flamenco shows.

Rebecca’s international career has taken her to perform on stages in Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Africa and Australia including Melbourne’s International Women in Jazz Festival, as well as the SF Jazz Center, the San Jose Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s and the Paramount Theatre closer to her Oakland home. She has been hosting four years of her “Brazil and Beyond” series at Baobab, San Francisco. Jazz pianist Benny Green says “Kleinmann is masterful and selfless in her ability and inclination of melding her sound with her environment.”  She has performed with greats including Lionel Loueke, SK Kakraba, Airto Moriera, Carlos Oliveira, Kina Mendez and world-class dancers including Melissa Cruz and Rosangela Silvestre. In addition to her Quartet, Rebecca performs with Dona Francisca, La Dee Da, Taylor Praise Choir and Brasiliense, her duo with Brazilian guitarist Ian Faquini. Their alchemy together has been heralded as “the balance of deep preparation with the unaffected abandon to go wherever the moment leads."

Skylor Powell has been teaching the importance of connection through yoga since 2009. She believes every person has the potential to flourish in every realm, it’s simply about understanding how to activate the muscles, confidence and patience to do so. She's a 200 E-RYT, has a degree in psychology and is a self-proclaimed opportunity junkie.

Samuel Eisen-Meyers – Samuel is a gentle and fiercely intuitive full time musician and visual artist born and raised in Portland, OR. He is drawn to music’s relationship to healing and yoga, and for the last 4 years, has been building live soundscapes and lush frequencies to accompany yoga studios in the pacific NW. At 18 he began writing and performing his own original material, while actively touring and supporting other artists and songwriters. With his main roots in blues, pop, and vocal based soul music, he has developed a fond appreciation for the expansiveness and colors of instrumental music. While frequenting the west coast festival and club circuit with bands out of Portland, Seattle and Bellingham, he wrote and recorded three albums between 2009-2014. Now at the ripe young age of 28 he returns with the first release since 2014 entitled The Heart of the Soul Pt. 1 – a culmination of years of composing and building what Eisen-Meyers calls, “Joyful Noise.”
